ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Jurisprudence
  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in client service position
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Ability to manage workflow from multiple sources
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and exercise independent judgment
  • Working knowledge of typical office policies and procedures
  • Initiative in assuming responsibility for new tasks
  • Willing to take direction
  • Willing to accept editing of documents and plans
  • Proficiency in basic office software, including MS Word, MS Excel,
  • PowerPoint, e-mail services

Essential Function

  • Work with team to create and implement case plan for individual clients
  • Perform research to provide accurate, timely and current information for team and for clients
  • Draft legal correspondence
  • Draft legal documents and pleadings
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures
  • Recruit prospective clients
  • Meet with prospective clients
  • Attend hearings, mediations, trials, conferences and depositions for clients
  • Develop professional skills through attendance at minimum 30 hours of continuing legal education (CLE) per year
  • Develop professional relationships within the multi-county community
  • Attend legal and professional functions as ambassador of BLLG
  • Maintain membership in local professional associations as directed
  • Serve actively on committees or teams within BLLG when asked
  • Deliver on all assigned projects and tasks in a timely and accurate manner
  • Fully comply with BLLG standards of operations and client service as set forth in the Firm policies and procedures
  • Maintain knowledge of current versions of local rules in each jurisdiction where the firm has cases before the court
  • Maintain knowledge of current status of legislation and case law in attorney’s practice area(s)


Compensation

Commensurate with experience and proven collectible billing hours

Job Classification: Professional, Salary, Full Time

Minimum Billing Requirement: 30 hours per week collectible

Reports to: General Manager

PARALEGAL

QUALIFICATIONS

  • College Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in client service position 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in law office 
  • Working knowledge of typical office policies and procedures 
  • Working knowledge of legal office practices and terminology 
  • Proficiency in basic office software, including MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint email services 
  • Aptitude for excellent client service as demonstrated by client feedback 
  • Ability to maintain filing systems for paper and electronic files 
  • Ability to manage workflow from multiple sources 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and exercise independent judgment 
  • Basic knowledge of standard accounting protocols 
  • Typing: 60 wpm accurate 
  • Excellent organizational and logic skills 
  • Familiarity with legal databases 
  • Ability to multi-task and perform on deadline 
  • Current Notary Public Certification 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

  • Trial and hearing preparation
  • Research
  • Investigation and fact-finding for cases, as assigned 
  • Identify relevant legal articles, laws and judicial decisions for cases 
  • Drafting and preparing legal documents such as legal arguments, motions, contracts and agreements, and forms 
  • File maintenance 
  • Analyze and organize information as directed 
  • Prepare, send and file legal correspondence 
  • Deliver on assigned projects and tasks in a timely and accurate manner 
  • Comply with BLLG standards of operations and client service as set forth in the contract agreement, the site operations manual, and the employee handbook 
  • Perform Notary Public Duties in compliance applicable Texas Code and Rules 
  • Any other case needs

LAW CLERK

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualifications
  • Full-time law student any level or has completed one year of law school if not currently enrolled

  • PowerPoint, e-mail services

  • Proficiency in basic office software, including MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint email services 
  • Aptitude for excellent client services as demonstrated by client feedback 
  • Ability to maintain filing systems for paper and electronic files 
  • Ability to manage workflow from multiple sources 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and exercise independent judgment 
  • Basic knowledge of standard accounting protocols 
  • Typing: 50 wpm accurate 
  • Excellent organizational and logic skills 
  • Familiarity with legal databases 
  • Ability to multi-task and perform on deadline. 
  • Current Notary Public Certification
