Licensed in 1975, Bob Leonard, Jr. is licensed to practice in all Texas courts. The majority of his practice is family law, including divorce, children's matters, property issues, enforcements, grandparent's rights, and interstate family matters. Bob's favorite practice area is adoption.

Bob also practices probate law, including, drafting wills, estate planning, probate, heirship, and guardianships.

Bob has also handled matters involving juveniles, criminal law, administrative law, and civil litigation. Bob believes that the client needs an attorney who can employ the full range of litigation, mediation, and collaborative law. To that extent, Bob typically undertakes over four times the required number of hours of continuing education each year.

From 1979 until 1988, Bob served in the Texas House of Representatives, representing Southwest Tarrant County. He rose in leadership positions until finally serving as chair of two committees: the Committee on Public Safety and the Committee on Health Care for Low-Income Texans. He also served on the Appropriations Committee and the powerful State Affairs Committee.

After graduating from Austin College in 1972, Bob attended St. Mary's School of Law, graduating with a Juris Doctor degree in 1974.

Bob is a member of national, state, and Tarrant County bar associations and is active in family law organizations. In 2002, he was elected chairman of the Solo-Small Firm Section of the Travis County Bar Association. He previously was Of Counsel to Cantey and Hanger. Bob has shown his interest in professionalism by earning membership in the Texas Bar College and by participating in the Texas Bar Foundation.

Although he does not typically handle appeals, Bob has had two reported cases: Hovious v. Hovious No. 02-04-169CV 2005 Tex. App. Lexis 1868 (Tex. App. Fort Worth, March 10, 2005); In the Interest of BC & AC (No. 02-06-180 CV, 2002 Lexis 2519 Tex. App. Fort Worth, March 9, 2007).

Bob has been active in both professional and civic organizations, including his current service as a board member of Guardianship Services, Inc., a non-profit that provides guardians to persons where there is no family member that can be one and where there are insufficient funds to pay for one. He has previously served as an officer or director of Easter Seals, Harris Hospital, and the Fort Worth Jaycees, and he and his wife, Sydney, led the capital campaign for the Community Hospice of Texas.
