Fort Worth attorney Bob Leonard, Jr. graduated from Austin College, and received his legal degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in San Antonio in 1974. 

Elected in 1979 Mr. Leonard served in the Texas House of Representatives for five terms.  While a member of the Texas House of Representatives, Mr. Leonard was chosen for numerous vice-chairmanships and as chairman of several subcommittees.   Mr. Leonard served as chairman of the House Special Committee on Health Care for Low-Income Texans and the Committee on Public Safety. 

Following Mr. Leonard's tenure in public service, he returned to the practice of law and government relations.  Mr. Leonard practiced family law and administrative law, representing clients' needs, both personal and business.

In 1989, Mr. Leonard was asked by then-Gov. Bill Clements to lead an effort to reform workers? compensation laws.  A major reform bill was passed late that year.

In 1999, a Travis County judge asked for Mr. Leonard's assistance in writing a bill to help reduce the number of babies who were abandoned by their mothers and often left for dead.  Mr. Leonard researched the issue and drafted a bill, which was passed by the Texas House of Representatives and signed by then-governor George Bush.  To read more about this bill, please click on Abandoned Baby Bill and Other Legislation..
